The Results of the Rhyme Spitters 5 "Select 16" Invitational & Charity Freestyle Auction

The all-city MC Battle & documentary film event Rhyme Spitters 5 was a huge success!!! ...At the Double Door, Friday, December 10, hosted by P.R.ism Puerto-Ricanism, with local beats spun by DJ Skor, and judged by Chicago MCs Rhymefest, Juice and Prime.

The 16 Battle-MCs were: Doomsday, Sho' Biz, Fresco, Tentative1, Epidemic, Tut, Sarcastik, Sam I Am, Facta, Sean G., Oxymoron, Jargon, Daytona Blue, Flash, Joleethal, SoLow Redline, and Phenom. The winner was Fresco (against Phenom) who took home $1000 cash.

Also, before the battles started, we held the first-ever "Charity Freestyle Auction" of items donated by 17 Wicker Park businesses. We raised $800 for Doctors Without Borders. DJ Rude1 was spinning & the auctioneers were MCs: Lyric, Griffen, Strike III, Simeon, Phillip Morris, Malakh El, Sam I Am, Ang 13, Shadow Master, Rhymefest, Prime, NEO, Vitamen D, Jitu, Lungz, Facta, P.R.ism, Anyi and Juice. Tuesday Night Sub-T Sidewalk Battles

We've been taking some time off this winter from doing the Sidewalk Battles on Tuesday nights at Sub-T. But come out to network and enjoy the open mic hosted by 606. We'll be coming back when the weather warms up a bit, and let us know too if you want to get involved.
